Clinical Services
Clinical services are an integral component of the care and treatment children receive at Kidz Ark. These services are provided by licensed therapists with experience in therapy with children and families. A detailed Individualized Case Service Plan guides the care and treatment of each child. The goal is to prepare each child for the least restrictive environment possible after leaving Kidz Ark and to maximize generalization of acquired skills to the home or other placement.
All residents receive individual therapy a minimum of once a week. Residents also attend several therapy groups a week to address issues related to anger management, self esteem enhancement, sexual abuse recovery, abuse and neglect recovery, addictive behavior issues, as well as milieu process groups related to successful peer interaction and problem solving. If the child has a family, Kidz Ark strongly encourages family involvement through family therapy and therapeutic home visits with the family. In addition to weekly individual therapy, group therapy and family therapy (when appropriate) the therapists are available 24 hours a day for crisis intervention. The therapists are able to help the child effectively cope with the immediate situation and return to their peer group as quickly as possible.
