Philosophy
Unconditional Love, responsible behavior and realistic consequences, form the basic philosophical foundation of Kidz Ark. Loving a child does not mean acepting and/or tolerating antisocial, destructive (internal and/or external) behaviors. Dichotomy must be made between loving the person and hating destructive behaviors (in self and others). Boundaries must outline the uses of love. We believe a positive emphasis is important. Redirection must remove the destructive myth: Life is fair. Clients, caretakers, parents, etc. (the system) should allow for timing, circumstances, and patience for growth, healing and maturity.
Program Description
Kidz Ark, Inc. uses aspects of the Boys Town's tried and proven social skill materials combined with components from the Positive Peer Culture Model. Kidz Ark has developed its own program by combining the best of these two models and adding aspects proven to be effective with children, with unique needs.
